Ten candidates to interview for a position on Casper’s city council on Tuesday | Casper

Ten candidates for a vacant Casper city council seat will argue their case on Tuesday night.

The post, left open in August by the departure of former council member Khrystyn Lutz, represents Ward 1 of Casper. This area spans most of downtown, the North and South Casper neighborhoods, and the Big Tree neighborhood, and is currently represented by the Amber Council members. Pollock and Bruce Knell.

All candidates for the post have verified their residency in the neighborhood.

Candidates will have 10 minutes to answer a series of questions posed by the board during a working session on Tuesday. Interviews are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and, like any council meeting, are open to the public and streamed on the city’s YouTube channel.

After the talks, board members will meet behind closed doors to decide on Lutz’s replacement before announcing their choice in a special session later Tuesday evening.

Copies of the 10 nominees’ applications and several of their resumes can be viewed on the city’s website.

The list of candidates is varied – with four women and six men, two former city council members and several leaders of local community organizations tossing their hats in the ring. A pastor, butcher, and filmmaker apply alongside a lawyer, forensic expert, and coal-fired power plant supervisor.
