It might be very cold now, but make no mistake about it. While the mercury has dropped over the past few days, temperatures have remained mild enough for such a long time that the ice on the water is not thick enough to pass through. A frightening incident unfolded on Monday morning when rescuers were called in to rescue a woman who herself was trying to save her dog who had fallen through the ice.

WNYT says the woman was trying to save her dog who had fallen through the ice on Glen Lake when she also fell. This is a perfect example of why first responders often tell you to call 911 if this happens, rather than risking your own safety. Fortunately, the dog and woman were rescued by deputies and did not require medical attention.

Dispatchers in Ray Brook’s office of the State Department of Environmental Conservation received a call from Essex County that one of the teens was suffering from alcohol poisoning while consuming hallucinogens. Rangers were able to get to the site just before 6 p.m. where they found three teenagers drunk.
