The Rays, who lead the AL wildcard race, replaced McClanahan just before his scheduled departure with a left shoulder impact. The AL Cy Young Award nominee left-hander is 11-5 with a 2.20 ERA. He started the American League All-Star Game last month at Dodger Stadium.

“Coming into the game, something was wrong,” McClanahan said. “I just couldn’t pull myself away. Impossible to put your finger on it. »

McClanahan will undergo further testing, but is optimistic he won’t be out for long.

Siri hit his fifth homer off reliever Cole Sulser topping the seventh.

“We have a lot of confidence in our bullpen whether the score opens or not,” Rays manager Kevin Cash said. “But our offense did some pretty special things. It was good to see him continue, especially after a day off.

The Marlins cut the deficit on Jerar Encarnación’s two-run brace in the seventh before Arozarena’s solo homer in the ninth.

“It’s a little bit different,” Marlins manager Don Mattingly said of Tampa Bay’s late change in starters. “We prepared for one, then your guys prepare. They threw a lot of lefties at us all day anyway, but that’s definitely a first for me.

Luzardo (3-6) was lifted after six innings. The southpaw allowed five runs – three earned – and six hits. He walked two and took out four.

Siri admitted to thinking about her first career cycle before embarking on the eighth. He was also on deck in the ninth before Taylor Walls struck to end the inning.
