WINSTON-SALEM, NC (WGHP) – Winston-Salem police are investigating after a person was shot in the head on Friday, according to a Winston-Salem Police Department news release.
Winston-Salem police said they arrived at the 2200 block of Pleasant Street at 5:16 p.m. when they were notified of a reported shooting.
At the scene, police said they found a 21-year-old man suffering from a single bullet to the head.
Investigators say the 21-year-old victim and a 19-year-old man were sitting in a car on Pleasant Street when the victim was shot,
Investigators say based on the evidence gathered so far, the incident was not a random act of violence and appears to be a targeted attack.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with what police describe as a “non-life threatening injury”.
It was unclear at the time whether or not the 19-year-old was injured in the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing.
