On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Helen Louise Swaim died at the age of 89 at her home in Stanton.

Louise was born on January 14, 1933 in Drakesville, Iowa to Glen and Kathryn (Jaeger) Townsend. She grew up on a farm in Iowa as the second youngest of 7 siblings. On January 21, 1950, she married Ernest Dean Swaim. Together they raised five children: Linda, Peggy, Greg, Ron and Mark.

Louise was passionate about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She has shown this love by serving in the ministries of her church, Garden Grove Friends, since 1960. Louise taught Sunday school for many years, the majority working with 4 and 5 year olds. She also shared the love of Jesus with the less fortunate by serving faithfully in the Real Help ministry. While cooking hot meals and preparing bags of food to give to those in need, she served and loved others with a big smile on her face.

Louise was predeceased by her husband Ernie and son Greg. She is survived by her four children: Linda (Mike), Peggy (Carl), Ron (Sharon) and Mark (Shelly), six grandchildren: Renee (Shawn), Chad (Shannon), Heather (Andrew), Cortnee (Chris), Jonathon (Kelsey) and Cameron, and 11 great-grandchildren: Kailee, Coralee, Tanner, Ava, Vera, Calla, Ezra, Adalee, Alec, Colby and Garret.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the Lambertian Ministry Center located at 12211 Magnolia St., Garden Grove, (formerly Garden Grove Friends Church) at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for non-perishables to bring as they will be donated to a local food bank. A memorial fund has been established with Community Action Partnership Orange County where monetary donations to the local food bank can be made in honor/memory of Louise Swaim.
