Free in-person event / broadcast featuring former neo-Nazis and Al Qaeda recruiters
MCFARLAND, Wisconsin – January 3, 2022 – (Newswire.com)
National and Justice Department officials as well as a former Ku Klux Klan leader, a former white nationalist, a former neo-Nazi and a former Al Qaeda recruiter, will join United Against Hate for a special event on the anniversary of January 6.e, attempted coup in 2021 in the national capital.
Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul will host the event in person and online and is free to the public.
“We are organizing this event on January 6e for a reason: we can all work together to ensure that January 6the, 2021 will never happen again, ”said Masood Akhtar, President and Founder of We Are Many-United Against Hate Movement. Masood continued, “Learning from those who were once consumed with racial and cultural hatred can teach us all how to end this hatred.”
The opening speech features Thomas Brzozowski, domestic terrorism lawyer at the US Department of Justice. Guest speakers include Daryl Johnson, expert on domestic terrorism, and Professor Brian Levin, expert on hate crimes.
The second panel features four former members of the hate group:
Derek Barsaleau – a former white nationalist who changed his life after another black soldier in the US Army saved his life.
Ryan Lo’Ree – a former neo-Nazi who now works to prevent teens from joining extremist groups and gangs.
TM Garret – a former neo-Nazi and KKK leader of German descent working with the Jewish and black community speaking on college campuses and working to help extremists leave hate groups.
Jesse Morton – a former Al Qaeda recruiter working with the NYPD officer who arrested and jailed him in 2011 to prevent the spread of extremism.
A panel of students from various high schools is also planned where students will share their own experiences and work to influence their schools and communities.
