ST. GEORGE – Authorities have identified the father and son who were involved in a fatal overturn off Interstate 15 near Enoch on September 12.

Brandon Bangerter, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene of morning accident, while his father, Garret Bangerter, 66, died of his injuries four days later, the Utah Highway Patrol confirmed on Monday.

The men are said to have returned home from a fishing trip when the Toyota Garret Bangerter pickup truck was driving left the roadway and rolled over several times. The UHP said the wreckage would have gone unnoticed for a few hours until dawn, when a passer-by called 911 after seeing the truck just before 7 a.m.

Both men were residents of St. George and were known for their work and accomplishments in the home construction industry. They were also the son and grandson of former Utah Governor Norman H. Bangerter, who died in 2015 at 82 years old.

The joint funeral for Garret and Brandon Bangerter is scheduled for Friday starting at 10:30 am at the Bloomington Stake Center, 200 W. Brigham Road, St. George. A visit will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm Southgate 1st Ward, 1068 W. Chandler Drive, St. George.
