RANCHO CUCAMONGA (CBSLA) – A series of staff and store issues led a Boston Market store in Rancho Cucamonga to keep its doors closed on Thanksgiving Day, leaving customers who prepaid for big meals hungry and scrambling for a plan B.
Several customers posted on social media that they arrived at Boston Market, 10890 Foothill Boulevard on Thanksgiving Day to find the store was closed and a handwritten apology sign posted on the door.

“No employee is showing up today… we can’t fulfill orders !!! We’re sorry !!! ”the sign said.
Several people said they drove up to an hour to get to this store to collect their prepaid orders. And although no employee was in the store to distribute the food, the orders were apparently visible through the store windows, stacked and ready to go.

In a Facebook post, David Kinder, who says he recently returned to work for Boston Market as an hourly shift supervisor, says the walkout was the result of weeks of mismanagement. In a series of messages that included his resignation letter, he wrote that the store had been without a working water heater for three weeks, had only one working POS system, its manager General was hospitalized last week and the area manager who had helped with a few catering orders had already put in his notice and left at the end of Thanksgiving week.
“It’s time for the Boston Market company to stop being ‘big cats’ and reinvest in their facilities and their people,” Kinder wrote in her two-page resignation letter. “What is happening here is appalling. Fix it. But you won’t settle this with me.
In a statement, Boston Market said it would refund orders for each customer “impacted by our Rancho Cucamonga store.”

“We are investigating the cause of this problem,” the company said. “We sincerely apologize to every guest who has placed an order and has come to the restaurant today.”
