Presented by Central Walk, Victoria’s Canada Day will feature an impressive array of local and award-winning, Indigenous and multicultural performances, as well as family-friendly activities. The celebrations of the 157e anniversary will take place at Ship Point on Friday July 1st.
The day will begin with a traditional Aboriginal canoeing protocol and welcome ceremony and performance by traditional Lekwungen dancers.
Upcoming events will include performances on the main stage, sponsored this year by the Victoria Real Estate Board (VREB), which will be led by local favourite, blues musician Jesse Roper. The VREB main stage will also feature Indigenous blues artist Garret T. Willie, award-winning guitarist Don Alder, Capital City Syncopators, Claire Coupland, Pedro Cardenas, and the West Coast Cuban All Stars, Vox Rea and Marafani World Beat.
Festivities will include music and dance performances, a children’s zone and a multicultural street market filled with artisans and the Flavors of the World food court featuring the best of Victoria’s food truck scene.
The celebration will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display presented by Reliance Properties over Victoria’s Inner Harbour.
Canada Day celebrations in Victoria are made possible through the generous support of corporate sponsors, government and community funding partners and our dedicated volunteers.
Everyone is welcome to participate and enjoy the day. There will be an accessible area to view the stage and dedicated volunteers to assist those in need.
