On Sunday, August 14, she will be at the First Choice Animal Care Appreciation Event, 5 Storm Drive, Windham ME from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Friday, August 19, she will host a book signing in her hometown at the Phillips Public Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of the Phillips Old Home Day celebration.

Those who sign up for his mailing list at these signings will be entered into a raffle to win a free autographed copy of this beautifully illustrated 53-page paperback.

The book is a humorous parody about dating. A well-behaved, well-traveled girl finds her perfect partner, a cat – not just any cat, but one that’s beautiful, bright, and too happy to walk the beach, go for afternoon picnics, and even to serve breakfast in bed. Even though he’s different (after all, he’s a humanized cat), Autumn is mesmerized by Siam as soon as she meets him. While fed up with the dating game, Autumn agrees to go to a friend’s engagement party where her friend Kate wants her to meet Siam, who she thinks will be her perfect match. Autumn reluctantly accepts the invitation, and she is shocked to find he is the center of attention at the party, with others eagerly hanging on to his every word. Once Kate introduces them, the night flies by as they dance, laugh, and become fascinated with each other’s goals, ambitions, and daily lives. He is a Siamese philanthropist who helps other cats in a shelter; she is a journalist/writer who meets all sorts of people in high and low places.

BJ Bangs is an award-winning blogger/journalist, communications professional and photographer. She writes about cat news and cat tourism at (Paws News for Cat Lovers). As the proud human guardian of many cats over the years, she is committed to letting people know how great cats are to us physically and emotionally. “Who Needs Men, I’ve Got Cats” is dedicated to one such cat, a traditional Siamese cat, Linus, who she says was “the love of my life.”

Additionally, it was published online at She is the recipient of the coveted Muse Medallion from the International Cat Writer’s Association and the 2017 Winn Feline Foundation Media Appreciation Award for her work with Feline Fix by Five.
