Award-winning Maine author BJ Bangs is hosting three local book signings in August for his new book, “Who Needs Men, I’ve Got Cats.” The book is the recipient of a 2021 Certificate of Excellence from the International Cat Association.
On Sunday, August 14, she will be at the First Choice Animal Care Appreciation Event, 5 Storm Drive, Windham ME from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Thursday, August 18, she’ll be at the Rangeley Public Library from 1-4 p.m. (it’s the same day as the Blueberry Festival, so stop by the library after you get your favorite blueberry dish).
On Friday, August 19, she will host a book signing in her hometown at the Phillips Public Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of the Phillips Old Home Day celebration.
Those who sign up for his mailing list at these signings will be entered into a raffle to win a free autographed copy of this beautifully illustrated 53-page paperback.
The book is a humorous parody about dating. A well-behaved, well-traveled girl finds her perfect partner, a cat – not just any cat, but one that’s beautiful, bright, and too happy to walk the beach, go for afternoon picnics, and even to serve breakfast in bed. Even though he’s different (after all, he’s a humanized cat), Autumn is mesmerized by Siam as soon as she meets him. While fed up with the dating game, Autumn agrees to go to a friend’s engagement party where her friend Kate wants her to meet Siam, who she thinks will be her perfect match. Autumn reluctantly accepts the invitation, and she is shocked to find he is the center of attention at the party, with others eagerly hanging on to his every word. Once Kate introduces them, the night flies by as they dance, laugh, and become fascinated with each other’s goals, ambitions, and daily lives. He is a Siamese philanthropist who helps other cats in a shelter; she is a journalist/writer who meets all sorts of people in high and low places.
BJ Bangs is an award-winning blogger/journalist, communications professional and photographer. She writes about cat news and cat tourism at www.bjbangs.net (Paws News for Cat Lovers).
