Rumor has it that there is some kind of big football game this week. With that in mind, one user of the New Jersey subreddit posed the question “If we had a team in the NFL, what would it be called?”
This got us thinking…since the “New York” Giants and “New York” Jets are too loose to commit to being from New Jersey, despite using MetLife Stadium to play their games, how could would call the New Jersey football team?
What would capture the essence of Jersey while intimidating the competition?
We asked this question on air on the Monday afternoon show, and listeners at New Jersey 101.5 came up with some really great suggestions.

New Jersey Pork Rolls
Now this one may be controversial because I know you North Jersey people are screaming at your screen “it’s Taylor Ham!” Jeryl from Freehold called this one, so you can discuss it with her.

Ready or not, they’re coming for you! There’s nothing more intimidating than New Jersey taxes, which makes this a great suggestion from Bill Doyle.
We have the highest and scariest property taxes in the country. The average now sits at $9,112. That’s $759 a month just in taxes. (Imagine a bloodcurdling scream here)
NJ Seagulls
I chose this one because I wanted the Jersey Shore to be represented and I find our seagulls to be particularly aggressive. However, no one else seemed to be on board.

New Jersey traffic cones
This one was submitted on the NJ101.5 app by Rob to Clinton, it even has merch ideas: team fans can wear conical foam hats!
